Heterogeneous spillovers of housing credit policy

چکیده
We study the spillovers from government intervention in mortgage market on households' consumption. Expansionary credit policy increases consumption of homeowners with debt significantly, while response without is small and insignificant. Non-homeowners also increase their but less than mortgagors. find heterogeneous responses households different ages. explain these facts through a life-cycle model incomplete markets endogenous housing choice. Downward pressure interest rates creates extra wealth for mortgagors via refinancing channel.
